The new breakaway ANC party finally has a name. Former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa, said yesterday (Thursday) that the new party would be called the Congress of the People. The name will be registered on Monday with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). It is said that the name came about by several people sending SMSs with their opinions. It is a name that does not stand out to me the first time I heard it. What do you think of this name?

The name is very accommodative, everyone irrespective of the skin colour is welcomed. people who partgicipated in the congress of the paople were non only ANC members but also people from all spheres of life, inclujding chiefs, tradditional leaders, churches business etc. The timw has arrived that we all come together and defend what we reolved in 1955 june 26 in kliptown as people in the congree of the people no congress of the ANC. As you can start to see guys our fortunes are starting to change as a country. The OBAMA first call to a strategic African country is TO Nigeria, it might sound small for those who dont care but it is those small small things when added in the end make the picture. Part of COPE policy of Farming: Farmers should be subsidised on the same scale they were subsidised during apartheid so as to encourage farming and reduce food prices – It is important – People will die of hunger.Agricultural Science should also be encouraged at school not only Mathematics.
South African Police Services should be replaced with metro police and investigation unit should be left in the hands of Scorpions.Some Scorpions trained managers should be deployed to lead metro police.SAPS is corrupt down from the roots and an overhaul is the way.
BEE should be replaced by PEE(People Economic Empowerment)so that it can cover the needy white youth and women.Rich black people children should not be covered.

Interms of housing delivery ANC is a flop.Apartheid government surpassed them.People don’t want free housing.People want permanent jobs first, then build them low cost affordable houses. COPE should realise that.

I feel that it is high time we had some meaningful opposition to the ANC, the top members of whom are lining their pockets at the expense of the ordinary man in the street.
Besides the fact that the ordinary man has more social freedom, he still does not have the free education that was promised in 1984, the “free” health care is a joke and jobs are at a premium.
It’s time for an organised and sustained opposition.
Lets match foward guys, and this match is for a good purpose. I am disgusted with the way IEC is handling ANC intimidation in and around polling stations in general.ANC should have never have been allowed to distribute leaflets telling voters that it is not registered. It should have kept quite and let people go to polling stations and get explanations there. By informing the people through hailers and leaflets amount to intimidation. If a voter went to the polls,is easily identified and can expose him/herself to all sorts of abuse,intimidation and attacks by ANC.
May be I am putting the cart before the horses but IEC is definitely an ANC replica which should not be taken lightly. Another Zimbabwe or African country for that matter is facing our country.

Well COPE is now the name that will stay. Interested persons must just be a little patient because everything up to now has been “interim”. After 16th everything will be full steam ahead and more formal structures will be established.Thanks for the support -there is lots of hard work ahead.
We need to be more responsive to issues that affect all South Africans. There lies a great opportunity in reaching the poor in Squatter Camps, rural areas, etc.
Let’s face it, the BEE, DA friendly, aloof, Middle Class, Suikerbos image is not election friendy in SA. Elections are all about numbers & the numbers lie in the majority of poor Africans… All can belong but the poor, who also see the slide of the ANC towards corruption, immorality and depravity, must not perceive that they do not belong in COPE. What we speak as COPE, should also resonate with all South Africans…
Just on crime. We need to be talking Death Penalty and more powers to the police to be effective against crime. The legal processes are in favour of the criminal, this must change if we are to change the country to an uplifting and peaceful place to live.
Naturally there needs to be a balance to protect the innocent whilst making crime unattractive because of severe punitive measures. e.g. Castration of rapists, life sentences for housebreaking and robbery. Who doesn’t dread the thought of criminals breaking into their homes robbing and raping their relatives? The poor are not immune to this, they experience this all the time…
We should also re-launch the Gauteng Campaign & Soweto’s ideal for this: there are several venues: UJ Campus in Soweto, Jabulani Amphitheatre, SAFA/Hyundai Stadium, Orlando Stadium, etc.
COPE is the Hope and Future of South Africa…
Hate spreading among the people of SA is what ANC had done and continues to do.Labelling their competitors along colour lines. We know ANC is so good on paper but look at what they practically do,its a bizzarre. They will continue to insult us and the whites of this country.

Yesterday 16 Dec. was a great succsess. When we look back in history it was a day of victory for all South Africans we where all set free of a devostating war. We do humble ourselfs in commeration and therefor we are now also able to celebrate the 16th a day of a new begingings, love,life and a vision. People are so excited as COPE has brought HOPE for all SA who wish to participate Lets pray together and we’ll stay together. The grouth will exceed our expectation.

Congrats to COPE. Where is the branch in the Ballito area? How does one become a member? Cope seems to embrace all South Africans including us whites. It seems to be non-racist (unlike the ANC) and at last there is some hope for allof us in SA. We need to stop SA sliding into a Zimbabwe-like abyss that the ANC is taking us all towards. COPE is the future for all people with positive values.

3.All of its top leadership intimidate and call names the legal systems and jurges when rulings go against them.
4. It believe it is the only party anointed to lead or rule the country.
5. It intimidate and threatening with violent others who oppose it
6. It believe in the work of emperialist whenever confronted with opposition
7. It believe in the continuation of policy of colour categorisation in its policy and not helping those in need of help.
8. It has a policy of deploying its cadres in public institutions without considering their qualification in those posts.
9.Its leaders protect each other blindly when accused of breaking the law even when passued by law enforcement agencies.
10. The party is above the law and have no regard for principle or constitution.

Our political and law atmosphere has given all South African citzen a room to debate, opening eyes to the ignorant and allowing all citizen to be politcal experts and advocates…Allowing us to be of sober senses about our present and future.
I guess any South African that has a conscious will forever be greatful of the ANC for leading their Liberation. But Liberation is not once, it is progressive and must produce fruits in this case Democracy.
As we approach the polls(elections) we must be sober, use our discretion and trust our judgement in wrighting our own history and destiny. The truth is we can never go to exile or Robbin Island in order to make a meaningful contribution in our Country, therefor we refuse to be bound emotionaly for our greatefulness.
We must ask our selves as fellow citizens:
1. How do we make those in power to fully account for their actions?
2. How do we keep full transparency of the use of state resources to the benefit of the citizens?
3. Who can we trust to bring back the dignity of our country, beyond party lines?
4. How can we make the dream of making South Africa to work again for all citizens?
5. How can we plant the seed of patriotism to our citizens beyond partilines so we can get them thinking soberly on real issues?
6. Finally, how can we bring back to the poles those senior citizens that have stopped voting due to dissapointments?
7.Finaly, How can we be in control of our destiny and not give a blank cheque to those power, of doing whatever they please about our lives.
All this has been inspired in me, by the patriotism and citizenship Americans bare on themselves, in making their country better. Yes, they come along way to wake up in realising their lives are more important than colour/race,tribe or even partisen but to push economic ideology and political agenda that have a real meaning to their lives.
All South Africans ‘NEED A BETTER LIFE’ the question is who can offer it?
All political parties are ineffective and do not live their vision, hence you only know and see their visibility only when ‘COMPAIGNING FOR VOTES’. This therefore delays service delivery and only during these compaigns do political parties and/or government become active.
‘CITIZENS MUST REDEFINE THEIR POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND POLITICIANS MUST BE HELD TO ACCOUNT BY US’.
The question is: Can African Liberation Movements mentain and translate freedom into a meaningful reality to its people.
Or maybe African Liberation Movements only go as far as to Liberating and not leading this Liberation into a meaningful democracry that yields fruits.
Look LIBERATION is only a seed, we know that you can’t eat a seed, but DEMOCRACY is a fruit of Liberation/Freedom. Otherwise if Liberation is not nurtured the reality of a fruitful Democracy becomes like Zimbabwe(Zanu-PF)/Namibia (SWAPO) etc.
Can COPE be a Political Party that will have its own personality which will translate seeds(Liberation) into a meaningful fruit (Democracy)?
Can COPE be the audacity of HOPE, for our raped democracy, in awe of a ‘Personality Cult’?
Maybe COPE will be the driver of this new political order. Change is inevitable, there will be new political order in South Africa. Our politics are maturing faster than we think.

I wish to congratulate the judiciary(SCA) in showing its independence in gudging in the case of honorable comrade Jacob Zuma. i believe that it is high time that everyone in this country do understand that know one is above the Law, if you committed any kind of crime, you will be procetuted irrespective of what portfolio you hold whether in Public or in the Private Business sector.
Thank you for a brightest idea of leaving the selection of our public representative to eminent credible intelectuals. We are about to show the world especially in South Africa that merit matters and not witch hunting.

Good for Mr Shilowa – and not any other party’s leader – to address the forum for international investors. However, with investors clear concern about BEE, Mr Shilowa made it clear they will continue with this strategy – which is in fact only benefiting a couple of prominent Black individuals – I am concerned that Broad Based BEE is only a cover-up for BEE benefiting some individuals – I am involved in a BBEE business in the rural area – no special treatment for us – SO my question is – what is the real difference then between COPE and ANC’s policy regarding this – because we surely know BEE is not economically benefiting the people of this country and surely not building the country up. BEE in Gvt contracts is just applied to enrich the contract holders – and not the beneficiaries – look at the corruption in housing departments – it is a disgrace. I agree fully with what COPE stands for. Subsequently I have joined the new party from abroad. I feel they will improve on the current situation in the country, which will encourage me to again ply my trade in South Africa. The fatcats pockets are so full that it is even closing their eyes and ears as in see no evil hear no evil. What I’ve done in the Eastern Cape (EMS) for 19 years has gone unnoticed, which sent me abroad. I have much more to give, but that will only be under the COPE banner. Viva COPE! It seems that the opposition is loosing it by complaining that their members is crossing to COPE! Our leaders should communicate clear and unambiquois message to get the people to imagine the government free of corruption, how many houses and services could have been done. How many houses and tap water could have done by the state money used to avoid the law. they are those things people want to hear.Our face of the party must have a compehensive data to explain those data in detail and not just headings. in that way even the poor will be able to see through because our people need to be helped to see through.we need a dosier that can be on the newspapers that matters. time is not in our side but using the correct aproach and proper tools we can move mountains.

There is a difference between politics and the church, in the church they preach the gospel,politicsis in general the goverment and various political parties.We should be able to make a clear distinction between the 2, however politics cannot function on its own because every decision that is made without prayer cannot be successfull. A prayer a day keeps the devil way. All governments needs guidence and which better remedy can there be but to get on our knees and pray. People may have different opinions so let it be. It is quite clear that all churches share the same views the difference between right and wrong. If these views are maintainded we will have a better live for all. COPE gives HOPE

The Zuma case: what is most surprising is why did Zuma not come forward with all this tape evidence a long time ago why wait till now or was this the tactick called “Trick of the Trade” Will this evidence now vanish.
Everybody can see that the prenouncement of “dropping the charges” was a only to collect votes. The poor ignorant people who do not understand what it’s all about once they have cast their votes for ANC they will be dropped by the way side. Please Cope save SA people from distruction.

It is Time that All the smaller parties and any one els who wishes get together and join COPE to form one strong oppistion against the ANC. We must not hesitate it is off great importance. Time runs out very quickly and if we do not act now it might just be too late.

On the program a few weaks ago ” Judge for yourself” was a lady from Kumalani she said that the government inherited a R800 million for the poor since then there has been no responce from anybody where is this money and who gets the interest. In what manner is the poor going to get their share Is this just a story that will be swept under the carpet. Government should please explain.
I was shocked when i read what Carlos said about the Brazil being the Team that can take the World Cup and i began to ask myself why this man was hired in the first place, if he can’t see the team that he is coaching winning the World Cup? he is just wasting our money, he must be fired, we might as well hire our local coaches, he is not even fooling us to make us believe in our national team, how are the players going to believe in themselves if the coach himself does not believe in them, if i was in SAFA, i would have fired that guy after his statement, i am very much disappointed in Carlos Alberto Parreira, i don’t even know why do we still have him as the head coach for Bafana Bafana because he is certainly not interested in them, he is interested in Brazil, he must go and coach Brazil.
