With the current xenophobia attacks gripping South Africa there have been several calls by different people for President Thabo Mbeki to step down from his position. The reason being that he has failed South Africans, especially over the last couple of months. “Crisis? What crisis?” will be a statement many people will remember President Mbeki by and what a terrible way to be remembered. This statement came after the president said that there was no crisis in Zimbabwe after the delay in announcing the presidential election results and the violence that followed after that. Now can you imagine if he were to say there is no crisis in South Africa due to the current xenophobia attacks? With the way he has handled the situation, you would think he thinks there is no crisis in South Africa.

The government has simply not done enough to stop the xenophobia attacks. There are suggestions that the government was warned about xenophobia attacks ‘brewing’ on the surface but they never attacked upon these suggestions. Just as they never attacked upon the electricity situation when they were warned that there will be an electricity crisis years ago and that they should act upon it, but they did nothing and thus we are facing a serious electricity crisis now.

Fine, with that said, the attacks have happened or should we say are happening and not much is being done to stop these attacks. The police have tried to stop the attacks but with not much success. Images of a man being burnt during these attacks have been beamed across the world and it has taken such a long time for the army to be deployed to assist the police to stop the violence. Thousands of people have been displaced during these attacks and this signals a potential humanitarian crisis. President Mbeki has himself not taken the time to visit areas that have been affected and to see for himself what is happening. Surely this should be one of the first things a leader of a nation in crisis should do?

Can we afford to have President Mbeki in power until the April election? He is letting down a lot of people and the worrying thing is that all his hard work and achievements in the past are being tarnished by what he has been doing over the last couple of months. People tend to remember the bad more than the good especially if the good happened a very long time ago.

Should The President Step Down? Certainly yes!!
If not, then Jacob Zuma should fire Relieve him of his duties, and early elections be called.

I agree with you 100%, especially given the recent mishaps, like you mentioned, power cuts, The Jackie Selebi saga, Zimbabwe Election saga, and now the xenophobic attacks…

It is becoming increasingly clear that he cannot handle the situation, He Cannot Lead with certainty, and he has seemingly lost interest!

Hi

I dont watch news anymore! Due to the fact media lie too much. The government say one thing the media says otherwise. I passed the rally that i could not understand the word they were saying. There in klipfontien dam in witbank! I just hear rumors of Jacob Zuma ralling these attacks. including witbank. I rarely go out, because the fact is i am behind my computer, most of the time. Checking info out including the history of Thabo Mbeki, and Jacob Zuma. Including his intelligence! Isnt it ironic, that the army has imported weapons, and local weapons? Thabo Mbeki sits back and watches the attacks with a smile
on forieners! When is it, going to be our turn? I have have got a terrible feeling, it is going to happpen, to us. And dont worry America is also heading for a haullocaust as well
And how many Americans is going to die And us, of cause? As South Africans we are concerned. So Basically we are screwed arent we? And never tell, “it will never happen to us” it will, but when. Why is the police, confiscating our weapons? Is it because to kill innocent people? No, Not to kill innocent people, but the criminals. Now we cant, and we are suffering! Who is innocent? Hitler confiscated weopons from the Jews. What happened to them? Exterminated! Who is, the Government going to exterminate next? us of cause. The government, was using the forieners as a target practice. WE are the ones, who will be killed next. So I advise you, to Turn to the Lord Jesus Now, before it is too damn late. God speed to you all.
